Starship, you make a mistake to overuse emotions and act like you would change the world by using them. Emotions are generated in limbic brain that is present in all mammals. However, reason, or you refer it as intelligence, is what is expected to be dominated here in forums. This whole "ignore list" is far less important than your own life where this whole discussion originally started and for which I wish you all the best and many good friends. And you have plenty of occasions a day to show you are a good person, in your life and even in the forums. Through good friends a good life is often shown.

Without offense to the much of the content in the forums, or to anybody including you, I would like to have this feature. It would made my life easier. Follow it from my side: I do not have time to read through long discussions that gives me nothing (note: I am not judging content here, just referring to myself). Searching for valuable pieces given by kernel developer experts, AMD guys, etc. then becomes so time consuming and I do not have the time in my busy day. Recent development in Phoronix forums is towards communicating emotions. This will not earn me much of knowledge. So, the ignore list seems to me the logical step to Phoronix forum quality improvement, not judging the quality of any contributor but selecting the information I want to get.

Sorry starshipeleven, but what about becoming useful person and doing something for society. We see many people that cannot meet others except through their keyboard. Some even resigned to their life and never leave their rooms and never find their jobs. They can go on as long as their parents provide them by food and electricity (and silicon to compute on). It is personal choice but probably quite non-mature. What will such people do when their parents die?

Last time Micheael answered similar complaints, the "ignore list" function was still broken and disabled, and given that vBullettin is traditionally a dumpster fire I would not have high hopes on that being fixed now.

Michael : We all know that we have various people in our forums. Some of them consider number of posts their meaning of life (see above), some to compensate various psychological deficiencies, still others just to spend time arguing about anything as they try to entertain themselves, etc. My personal opinion is that these people devaluate the high standard of Phoronix forums where we used to see experts from AMD, etc., followed by a kind of high knowledge exchange. It seems to me that these experts stop to attend forums to some degree because of offensive language and discussions about nothing. On one hand side, we want to leave forums open to everyone, but on the other, let me suggest my humble proposal: Each person would be able to put some well known "spammers" to its personal ignore list. So, "spamming" contributions (and possibly reactions on them) will not be shown when the person views the forums. This way, the right of anyone to write whatever will be preserved and the right to not listen (or not be abused) by other will be preserved as well. Surely, the decision is on you. I am just tired of reading or even scrolling through senseless discussions. Just suggestion as protecting high standard of Phoronix forums seems good idea to me.
