There is https://github.com/max-moser/network-manager-wireguard. I am not sure if it might already be included in the standard applet but I have seen wireguard in the NM Applet on arch. If the user had installed an extra plugin though, I do not know.

afaik the applet is generic and will show whatever you have plugins for.
