              More like beta.

              Beta stage is "release to non-developers for field testing" (either closed or public beta), and Wireguard is definitely in this stage. It's supported in OpenWrt (router distro), and in many desktop distros as an addon module, there are at least a couple VPN providers using it and one of the bigger VPN providers (NordVPN) is tooling up to offer it as well.

              Alpha is developer-only testing stage.

                Then it would at least be 0.1...

                (of course I know the version doesn't matter much but the truth is that this version number annoys me so much because it's completely unneeded)

                    It still hasn't beaten AMD's DC, Bcachefs, and of course the BFQ scheduler, yet, as far as "wait time before merging" is concerned.

                    Come back in a few years and we'll talk again about vaporware.
