When I setup my laptop's Arch install a few years back I found systemd boot the easiest to setup with UEFI. Systemd might not follow the Unix philosophy (even Linux doesn't) but it damn works!     I had 3 (three !!!) systemd related issues with suddenly non-booting systems here.

    It actually does, much more so than script-based init. The "does not follow Unix" is bs stated by people that think that "unix phylosophy = script-friendly"
