Phoronix: The Linux Kernel Adopts A Code of Conduct

Prior to releasing Linux 4.19-rc4 and Linus Torvalds taking a temporary leave of absence to reflect on his behavior / colorful language, he did apply a Code of Conduct to the Linux kernel...

Love this. Actions speak louder than words and Linus and GKH are stepping up. This can only lead to a stronger and healthier kernel and community, without compromising code quality or feelings. Well done.

Just waiting for them to remove Master/Slave terminology like Python did because some people found it offensive... haha

        What?!

I guess Linus himself will break it in his next rant...

Pretty short and to the point. Just as it should be.

Hmm, this doesn't look good for the Linux kernel future.
When politics take over, code quality could suffer.
            But we will see.

In the interest of fostering an open and welcoming environment, we as contributors and maintainers pledge to making participation in our project and our community a harassment-free experience for everyone, regardless of age, body size, disability, ethnicity, sex characteristics, gender identity and expression, level of experience, education, socio-economic status, nationality, personal appearance, race, religion, or sexual identity and orientation.
Oh boy, here come the SJWs to suck the fun out of life again.

You joke, but it's this idiotic focus on not liking certain words rather than focusing on the intent of a phrase, and trying not to hurt other peoples' feelings rather than encouraging people to grow a thick skin that results in these tedious, time-wasting efforts.

The "Be excellent to each other" was even shorter and more concrete (at least to me...)...

He is NOT joking. this actually happened. Im really worried about this odd timing between the code of conduct being added and Linus leave of absence.

                    Hell has frozen over.

Wonder if the same thing will happen with Linux as with FreeBSD...
