It's not completely obvious from that summary. Some benchmarks would be nice. Squashfs has quite many options for tuning the perf/storage requirements.

Im reminded of the phrase "what good is a new baby". While it might look like a duplication of effort it is how innovation happens.

Today is the very first that ive heard of EROFS. So surprise something new! That being said i dont see the draw in readonly file systems. Is that much data really being saved?

On the flip side im always happy to see new ideas explored even if i question why. It is a positive aspect of Linux.
