    No, I was talking about actual experience and not about some link on the Internet. Even on lz4's own webpage is it show as being on-par with lz4's compression speed and ratio. It very much depends on what you're compressing and on which platform. LZO still has it's use is all I'm saying.

      Maybe tar should just support some unix way of having something streamed into it?

      It would easier than remembering their retarded non-standard command line options anyway.
