      Usually 7rc's then final at a week apart, though sometimes its 6 and if there are still issues with rc7 extra ones can happen

          Linus releases final when it's ready, if its rushed out then people might have issues with 4.16.0, and it basically means 4.16.1 will be where 4.16.0 should have been.

          If you really care about getting the latest code, run a kernel from Linus's tree, agd5f's tree if you're an AMDGPU user or Linux Next if you want to test the latest code across the whole kernel

            You ever read the app manifests in Android and iOS?

            It's basically the same, although they are written in XML and/or use java-like function names for added readability.
