    The thing is, nearly nobody is using IPX any more.
    And thus, nobody is paying attention and maintaining it.

    Probably quality of IPX has regressed already, and is bound to regress anyway.
    (Linux is a moving target. Drivers and modules which worked nicely in 2.6.8 might be at least problemetic or not even work if your tried to use them on 4.16. If nobody is willing to do the maintenance work necessary to keep IPX up with what happens in the kernel, it will eventually become crashy and unstable).

      i believe some VPS hosts still use IPX.
