      I'm pretty sure the AAC patents have expired already since it was standardized 20 years ago. HE-AAC, on the other hand, is a more recent version. Patents only last for 20 years and they cleared up the patent legislation in 1995 wrt submarine patents so I don't see any reason why it would be still patented. Also bear in mind that the last MP3 patents were from 1997 or so just like AAC.

          has anyone tried to issue the command 'sudo dnf install fdk-aac' ?
          it doesnt seem to be working on for me (on rawhide)...
