Ubuntu 17.10 (Artful Aardvark) does not let you to uninstall:
    • libmirclient-dev
    • libmirclient9
    • libmircommon7
    • libmircookie-dev
    • libmircookie2
    • libmircore-dev
    • libmirecore1
    • libmirprotobuf3

Also it does not let you remove:
    • libunity-action-qt1
    • libunity-api0 (maybe can be removed?)
    • libunity-control-center1
    • libunity-protocol-private0
    • libunity-scopes-json-def-desktop
    • libunity-scopes1.0
    • libunity9

There is no Ubuntu 17.10. The version number reflects when it was released. Since it hasn't been released, we should use the code name. It's still early in development.

You miss that Mate desktop, now a GTK3 desktop, intends to move to a Mir-Wayland cookie monster implementation.
Perhaps that'll be done even with GTK3 speaking only Wayland ; I don't know and I'm interested in news or some time-table for any Mir-Wayland work.
