I think the reason why Microsoft sponsors these events is because they realized that anyone trying some new idea for a web service/product is unlikely to spend more than they have to. So if they aren't going to use MS products, then at least they can rent Azure instances.

Let's say its proper name... it's called Micro$hit. Micro because they have a tiny oOo and $hit because their politics are pure horse $hit. Do you know the last one? They are trying to prevent Winblows Update from working on AMD Rizen CPUs (and will probably try to prevent the CPU from working in future updates) if you have Windows 7 (the latest sane OS). But NO Micro$hit, people don't want your latest shiny $hit - the "glorious" Win$hit 10. You can shove it up your a$$.
Besides your writing style is even more flawed than mine, please give the whole picture. MS is not going to support any new cpu from any manufacturer for non-current Windows versions. Current and future Intel CPUs won't be supported either, see Skylake and Kabylake.

Windows was never sane but very predictable - end of mainstream support plus one year on average. See there:

        Windows XP Service Pack 3 April 14, 2009 April 8, 2014
        Windows Vista Service Pack 2 April 10, 2012 April 11, 2017
        Windows 7* Service Pack 1 January 13, 2015 January 14, 2020
        Windows 8 Windows 8.1 January 9, 2018 January 10, 2023
        Windows 10, released in July 2015** N/A October 13, 2020 October 14, 2025
Answers to frequently asked questions about the lifecycle policy for Windows products.

Windows 7 January 2015 plus one year means as of 2016. on new hardware you shouldn't complain about 7 really

Of course people seems not good informed and does not listen so still use long unsupported Windows XP

And just outside, there will be a large wooden horse, and at night a hidden trapdoor will open and dozens of microsoft staffers will leap out and put Windows 10 DVDs in all the gift bags, under seat cushions, and hijack the network so all linux download pages take you to download.microsoft.com.

Microsoft Azure instances, and Debian running on Windows 10 in their Linux sandbox mode.

Yep. It shocks those with long memories, but Linux is a significant part of the MS business model these days. Obviously, they'd *prefer* people ran Windows Server on their cloud instances, but if people are willing to pay them to run Linux, they'll happily take that money. And according to Microsoft themselves, Linux makes up almost one third of the Azure cloud.

They don't have to support any new CPUs. Ryzen CPUs already work in Windows 7 (and better than in Windows 10), but since they want you to use Windows 10 whether you like it or not, they now detect if you have a Ryzen CPU and disable Windows Update stating you have an incompatible CPU. What a joke, as I said they can shove their new shiny toy up their asses.

Has he done one for Windows 10? Otherwise, think of how embarrassing that picture looks to Microsoft now...
