Phoronix: Benchmarks Of Ubuntu 17.04 Beta vs. Antergos, Clear Linux, openSUSE Tumbleweed

For those curious how Ubuntu 17.04 is shaping up, considering this week was the "beta" release for participating flavors, I decided to take a fresh Ubuntu 17.04 x86_64 daily ISO and see how its performance compares to Ubuntu 17.10, Clear Linux 13600, Antergos 17.2, and openSUSE Tumbleweed.

openSuse does incredible well! What are they doing different than Ubuntu?

Newer Mesa (and possibly kernel), being a rolling distribution. Still, note that it's missing from several tests, probably failing to finish.

Might have been interesting to see openSUSE Leap along with Tumbleweed there for a distro that has both static(is that the correct term?) and rolling releases.

From my tumbleweed phoronix expirience those tests did not even start due to missing dependencies or differing package names. Some of tumbleweeds librarys have multiple versions and the version number in the package. Or they have too new versions of those? Michael? Do you know more? Could i help to debug this somehow?

Quick question: Michael notes that Clear Linux is missing Radeon support. However, I remember that Arjan from Intel recently said on Phoronix that Clear Linux is able to boot and work on AMD just fine. But how is that possible if Radeon support is missing? (I mean: what driver does it use to power AMD cards in such cases?)

              Maybe 16.10?

He was referring to AMD CPU support.

I use a Phoromatic Server cache on the LAN so never run into 404s / missing files and also much faster than downloading from the web each time... The openSUSE Runtime failures were due to dependency issues.
