Wait, what? This is something new? I haven't heard of this feature since the release of Gnome 3.22. Is it something Fedora specific?

Only GNOME including the general release. No other products or spins have a Wayland plan proposed.

This is not a dnf specific problem. There was bugs filed against Xorg and another in udev rpm post scripts.
