    AMD driver is 16.40.4, the second from the 16.40.x branch. Let's hope for a public AMDGPU PRO update for Ubuntu/other distributions soon!

        I wonder if Valve has applied the .os file opengl string fix to the AMDGPU-PRO driver, you know the one that stopped allot of Feral games from working (and probably a few others).

          Actually this is true for AMD as well. In fact, you get higher frame rates under linux for the same OGL code path, as the OS is less bloated. The problem here is that this is the result of the windows driver being garbage as well, not because the linux driver is so good.

            This is only true in special cases where a game has a proper OpenGL renderer under Windows like Talos Principle. However in the case of NVIDIA, you can compare the Linux OGL renderer to the Windows DirectX renderer in most games and see that under Linux the game runs almost as good or in some cases better then DX comparison.
