Phoronix: More Mediatek DRM Display Work Is Coming For Linux 4.8

With the Linux 4.7 kernel there is an initial Mediatek DRM display driver while further improvements to this open-source code are coming for Linux 4.8...

Uhm, HDMI controller, but no GPU. Not even the one landed in 4.7 is for GPU.

Or am I missing something? There is a Imagination GX6250 GPU in there, I thought there aren't opensource drivers for that. Are the closed drivers more modular than Mali's?

Also, Amazon Fire TV last gen has a Mediatek, but older ones don't.

is Mediatek doing this themselves and airlied is just the committer? Or is Airlied leeding this work? How can I see that in git or somewhere else?

mediatek has its own mailing list on infradead, there are around 5 mediatek guys in there plus other usual suspects from kernel or embedded device development companies https://lists.infradead.org/mailman/...linux-mediatek
