Did they switch from Upstart to systemd, too? Afaik Tizen 2.0 used Upstart as init daemon.

Tizen 3.0 with Wayland sounds promising.

• X server is replaced with Wayland at this version. Full specification of Wayland protocol is implemented based on Enlightenment 19 and other core platforms like AppFW, SystemFW and Web engine are totally aligned with those changes. This new display server reduces application launching time and computation resource consumption by about 30% compared to previous version.

Is nice to see that wayland brings more performance, for me the issue is on the desktop, running Xwayland applications will have its rendering overhead, and there are going to be lots of applications running in Xwayland, at least on the desktop....
