It's called Chromium Extensions Framework (iirc), and it's something servo is supposed to adhere to as well.
IF gnome wrote to those apis they'd be able to switch between implementations.

They're supposed to be releasing an apk anytime now for testing.
Obviously "final" versions are at least a year away. Regardless, cef gets you blink, immediately, rather than having to stick with WebKit.

Regarding Firefox, if you reference back to the mailing list thread you'll quickly realize getting rid of Firefox as default just isn't a realistic proposal; on multiple levels. If the default were to change, the logical choice would be Chromium not Epiphany. There are some packaging challenges which now prevent Chromium from being available currently in the Fedora repositories, but the odds would be greater that those problems would be solved before another browser would have the features and functionality to be able to compete.

Chrome / Chromium cares less about Gnome integration than Firefox. Why on earth would it be a more likely option? Also: Gnome is not about many features. They already removed features on several occasions. I last tested Gnome Web under the still-current Fedora 21 release. That thing even crashed on occasion when visiting Gnome's own Extension page. Once it can browse Gnome's own web presence, it'll become default. No matter what mailing lists say.

Firefox IMO is becoming a tad Bloated with useless Features. Features that should remain a Addon, just like that _Hello_ crap. i bet more people would use Skype than that Hello crap. but it wont matter whether they remove firefox as the default Browser as it'll always remain in the repo just like Thunderbird ( which isnt the default email client ) plusi think E[iphany with Webkit would be better than to wait till Servo matures , by the time Servo comes out Webkit/Blink will be pretty much Mature. lets not stop at _Hello_ , this new Pocket crap. an also this Reader List crap,

Hello is just a small GUI for WebRTC which is a standard for web browsers.
