  • GTK2 must die

If they want to use use XFCE with jurassic-gtk2 they should return to Gnome2! For sure Gnome2 is much better and complete than XFCE

Why Debian never consider to use KDE?

The reason they went with Gnome for the default back in the day was due to Qt not being under an entirely open source friendly license. For that matter, that's why Gnome was created in the first place; to be a GPL desktop.

Debian's 'default' just means if you go through the standard install and select "Desktop System" then you get Gnome. If you choose the advanced option, you can install KDE, XFCE, LXDE as well.

        They did:
Kwheezy 1.4 (it's "pure" debian with FULL KDE only). -it's very nice too.

Xfce is moving away from GTK2, in fact so is MATE, it's planned to have GTK3 support in 1.8.

Have a look at Xfce 4.10, it's their best release so far.

The same could be said about FOSS only Linux distributions, some crazy people such as yourself just want a broken hardware experience out of the box. At least PC-BSD supports proprietary hardware without leaving users standing in the wind.

Couldn't imagine why anyone wouldn't want everything to work out of the box.
