    Fonts seem to be mostly fixed for the most part. Just find a theme and icon set you like and always download them. Saves time and effort if you remember the name.

    Never had to compile anything from source on Fedora. Install EasyLife (http://easylifeproject.org/) by double clicking the RPM. Done. Infinality Freetype also has its own RPM repo which can be added by clicking on it.

    Maybe its just FreeType 2.5 with Adobe's CFF engine now the default.

    wasn't at least part of infinality merged upstream? maybe they finally got a release with it included in mainline
