Phoronix: LXDE-Based Lubuntu Will Not Ship Mir Display Server

The LXDE-based derivative of Ubuntu Linux has no plans to be using Mir, regardless of XMir or not...

One by one, the oppressed peasants are turning against their master... the people will not stand for this travesty! The excesses of the elite must be curbed! Soon, a mob with pitchforks will gather around the walls of the Canonical palace, demanding Shuttleworth's head on a pike...

      Distaste? Really?

So please tell me where exactly in the following post does the Lubuntu guy "express distaste"?

Should be noticed Wayland doesn't fit Lubuntu's needs either.

          Why wouldn't it?

            Problem is XMir, not Mir

The LXDE-based Lubuntu distribution has now also expressed their distaste for Mir and want to continue using an X.Org Server.
Too much hyperbole in that statement. The Lubuntu developer was expressing his concern that XMir was too much of a performance hit on LXDE, so for now they'll stick with X.Org. He didn't say anything bad about Mir itself, and didn't preclude its use eventually on Lubuntu.

              Performance: "
This is currently an issue for Lubuntu, because, if i understand
correctly, we are going to replace an X + openbox (without composite)
with a Mir + XMir + composite windows manager (?). Considering the
very bad performance on some of our target hardware running under a
composite manager, I'm quite worrying about the performance
              difference."

looks like Canonical is getting what it wants just a little faster then it hoped for "Mir is a one distribution solution for our needs"

                  From the article:

In particular, Lubuntu is worried about poor performance if using a compositing window manager.
I have to agree, that this could easily be overseen in such an awfully long article.

                  Btw

We currently plan to ship X only
by default for 13.10 and 14.04 for Lubuntu, with eventually an option
to test XMir, to prepare the future
                  .
Is that your interpretation of "distaste", Mr. Phoronix? :P

They want to avoid the use of compositing, and both native Mir and native Wayland require compositing, and both XMir and Xwayland are useless as a desktop solution (useless as not giving nothing that a plain X.org doesn't give you). And this is, as pointed out, because they aim to low resources computers. Compositing has better performance on a lot of use cases, but it also leads to higher memory use.
