Honestly I find it hard to believe that a shell developer can't reproduce it. I'll give the final a try when it comes out though.
Feel free to download the latest RC release of Fedora and test it. If you can still reproduce it, it would be useful to get the exact steps and a stack trace to figure out what is causing the problem. If it was widely reproducable, I would run into this problem already and I haven't.

Really annoyed me when I tried the beta, can't believe gnome keeps releasing with such severe bugs and then ignoring them. Not only does it randomly crash the shell, it can also totally crash gnome causing you to lose any work.
This https://git.gnome.org/browse/gnome-s...1a6341aa738bae should fix this crashes (turn them into a warning) should be in 3.8.4 which will get released soon (tm). And yes F19 will get it as an update.

Good news, cause I just tested the release candidate and I reproduced the crash easily in only 10 seconds. Glad to see that there is a fix coming

Thanks drago - any idea why this seems to affect bwat and some other reporters so badly but doesn't hit me or Rahul (or many others, apparently) at all? Race / timing issue?

It is a timing issue. The fix does not really fix it (the bug report is still valid) it just won't crash but print a warning to the log instead.

Actually, it hasn't. It's still being built. It is not released until the compose request ticket - https://fedorahosted.org/rel-eng/ticket/5623 - is closed and the announcement sent out.

This is another reason we don't like to publicize TC/RC builds too widely, the compose process happens in public and people jump on the images early and complain when they don't work or are not finished...

I have been using GNOME 3.8 since Fedora 19 beta as a daily basis. Very rarely gnome shell or nautilus crashed, but that's largely due to the extension I'm playing around with. But nothing like this.

Do you install any nautilus extension?

Fedora is a distro by Fedora devs for (Fedora) devs, non friendly and you have to be well aware how the dev process works.
