    lolol i spend almost a year to put my hybrid system working, this is a miracle lolol all ppl from nvidia, amd, intel, xorg, mesa3d works for nothing lolol

    nice joke but its not april 1rs
    I'm just installing it in a VM to see what the heck this project is about. From what I can see, it's just booting the Linux kernel, so it might be a joke. I'll post more later.

      EDIT: Yup, this is a joke project. This is just Debian + recompiled kernel with no source code. The gnumach stuff in /boot does nothing and the system boots perfectly fine with all of their crap (minus kernel + initrd) removed. Tarballs of their added files and kernel are below.

      EDIT2: This is bullshit. Apparently, I can allocate 100% of my memory: http://i.imgur.com/N2Lrkwa.png

      * Advertised as multiarch, but only i*86 packages exist
      * No source code for testing (Debian sid) repo: http://de.sphinux.org/repos/deb/exprepo/
      * No packages at all for standard repo: http://de.sphinux.org/repos/deb/sphinux/cheopx/
      * GRUB 2 loads /boot/kern.boot which is a symlink to vmlinuz-3.2.32 that appears to be a Linux kernel
      * "ps aux" is not showing any processes uncommon to KDE distros
      * md5sum of bash package is *identical to Debian*. Probably true for other packages as well.

      * Weird files:
      - Empty /null file
      - Broken symlinks /libexec/ld.elf{_so,.so.1} -> /usr/libexec/ld.elf_so
      - /dist directory (appears to be unused)
      - /usr/lsx -> /dist/usr
      - /kern.boot -> /boot/vmlinuz-3.2.32 (Linux kernel?)
      - /kern.img -> /dist/multiboot/kernel

      Code:

        This whole "new" OS is a hoax or at least a very bad joke. The "developers" just made a "Wall"-Debian and changed some C-strings in the Linux-source-code to "build" their own kernel. The output of "dmesg" clearly shows that this "new" OS is a normal Linux-distribution based on Debian.

        The "developers" weren't even clever enough to change/rebrand the package-source-file of the used Debian-kernel:

        Code:
        zcat squashfs-root/usr/share/doc/linux-image-3.2.32/changelog.Debian.gz
        Code:
        linux-source-3.2.32 (1.0) unstable; urgency=low

          * This is a dummy changelog for packages generated by kernel-package. At
            some point, there shall be hooks for the user to substitute a
            changelog entry, but currently this is just a stub.

        One funny fact about this "egyptian" OS:

        The "sources.list"-file points to a empty (Only the package files, no pool directory) german server :

        Code:
        deb http://de.sphinux.org/repos/deb/sphinux/cheopx /
        This domain "www.sphinxos.org" is owned by an egyptian named Mohamed Hassan (Organisation IdeaICT) from Alexandria, Egypt. He seems to be an IT consultant.

          "SphinUX OS" sounds pretty much to me like a pun on "sphincter", associates with "goatse"(x) definition of vulnerability "hole" "exploitation".
          The subliminal message is one is going to be "owned".

          Math refresher to all who forgot percentages and importance of base(100%) value:
          +100% = x 2
          -50% = / 2

          -100% = 0

          +200% = x 3
          -200% = - (value) (creating rupture in fabric, probably)

          SphinUX OS Claims
          "memory consumption is 300% less" means - if Linux uses 1GiB of memory, then this "OS" claims to use "-2GiB of memory".
          Either space-continum rupture, or its supposed to "give" 2GiB of free memory to operating system, on tops of installed memory, instead of to occupy any.

          Percentages don't behave downwards like upwards, courtesy of "base 100% value". Someone was good at making jokes, but really bad at math.

            Haha I was thinking my self "300% LESS??? How does that work???

              Called it... (the hoax part, not necessarily the rootkit/botnet part, that remains to be seen)

                I'm not seeing any unusual CPU usage. I'll do a Wireshark capture on the VM later to see if it's phoning home.

                On another note, is there a way request the removal of a project on sourceforge? I think their lies and missing source code for all of the packages are enough reason to have the project removed.

                  You can submit an abuse report and can probably bug them on IRC, too.

                    The Sourceforge project has suspiciously high user ratings.

                    The integration design combines a hypervisor's ability to run multiple kernels although it has the caching kernel features, enabling the loaded pre-compiled custom kernels to multiplex over resources and have shared MMU with the fastest IO/AIO compared to other operating systems with the same machine configuration.
                    Does this even mean anything or is it just technobabble?

                      Thanks for doing that, Chenxiaolong. I suspected it was going to be smoke and mirrors, with a rebranded Linux kernel, but decided against wasting the time time and bandwidth to find out. (Their claim of "99% hardware support" was the first clue that they didn't just pull a new OS kernel out of their arses)

                      So they are outright lying and "relicensing" the Linux Kernel as GPL V3. That ought to go over well, now that this project is going to get publicity.

                      I also didn't believe the bollocks about using three OS kernels to "multiplex resources" through a hypervisor. I very much doubt that's practical and could only incur more overhead, not less.

                      P.S. Thanks also to glasen, who also seems to have spent some time installing this and digging for some interesting tidbits of evidence.
