Unity/Compiz performance and power consumption is actually great now!

amd FX-6100, nvidia GTX550Ti, 8GB ddr3 asus M5A97-PRO mobo

nomodeset gets me to livecd after install it drops to tty
I have tried a few tricks but nothing doing, a few more to try but I'm starting to think the hassle isnt worth it any more and windows is starting to look ominously my only option again. Since 10.10 things have progressively gone backwards.

So for giggles I threw in my ati radeon 6790 which generally is a nightmare - finally it just works so perhaps I don't need to use windows after all yay!
