    Hmm, I thought that the drm-snapshot kernel in xorg-edgers was 2.6.32. If not, I guess I will be hand-compiling it for now yet, or using the separate kernel PPA that was mentioned earlier.

      I tried the mainline 2.6.32-rc5 kernel but i couldn't get 3D working. Karmic even wanted to delete the kernel package the first time i booted.

        Policy for xorg-edgers is no kernel updates, just X bits. For new kernels go to the kernel team's mainline ppa (links mentioned above in this thread).

        If you remember having 3D on your ATI card prior to Karmic, think if perhaps you were using fglrx previously. 3D support on R600/R700 is a new feature for the open source driver, and was a tad too late beyond feature freeze to get into Karmic unfortunately.

          No i wasn't using fglrx. I used radeon with xorg-edgers ppa and self-built drm for my kernel. Everything worked quite good.

          Well, i managed to get open-3d on my karmic, but i had to update more than just the kernel...
