I admire CachyOS but I've given up on it for numerous reasons. Mainly due to the Russian co-founder (Vladislav Nepogodin) who is best known for being passive-aggressive and toxic.

Good news, so there is hope that snowflakes won't infiltrate the project.

odd reason to negate a distro - but even einstein couldn`t deal with the schizophrenia of his son and denied him nearly his whole life. his biggest mistake so far.

I was fairly active in the community for a while and never came across anybody passive-aggressive and toxic. So either the co-founder doesn't participate in the community and just works on the project, or he's not as bad as you think he is.

Other than that I used it for over a year and encountered issues which weren't reproducible in Arch Linux. Performance wise, the difference in my benchmarks weren't compelling to justify spending time on debugging problems which didn't exist anywhere else.

Ultimately it wasn't for me and I wish the project all the best in hopes of seeing more distros follow their lead.

I only have good experiences with him and nothing wrong with being Russian, it's not like he decides what his countries politicians do.

I really hope Arch and Debian would provide x86-64-v3 distros. Until then other than using Gentoo Cachy is the best next choice. Loading modern CPUs to crunch 20-year old instruction set looks like a complete waste for me. And as soon as more distros move forward we can get more work on compilers which sometimes still generate modern instructions set to be slower than base one or things like -O3 is slower than -O2 etc.

In my personal experience CachyOS is a step ahead of any other distro in terms of speed, it is definitely noticeable at first glance and believe me this is not an opinion but an observation. Regarding instability problems, at least until now I have never encountered any, or at least nothing that was not easy to solve or mainly my fault.
