Notably, this is going to be the first Debian release with first tier support for RISC-V.

This (trixie, which is still about the same as sid) is what I am running on my VisionFive 2 board, which I use as home server.

I'll probably be changing my Ubuntu servers to Debian 13 with zfs-dkms and Incus. Ubuntu has annoyed me on several things. Ubuntu seemed like the best server distro to get ZFS, but that turned out to not be the case when it took them several months to apply that critical ZFS patch that was needed a while back. And the people involved with that sure didn't seem to have any sense or urgency. Second, I heavily use LXC/LXD and Ubuntu screwed up that project which made it fork into Incus. And third, Ubuntu is pushing Snaps too much, which I don't want on my servers.

Fwiw, my RISC-V setup uses ZFS as well.

Debian (Trixie) Root on ZFS on LUKS on a M.2 NVMe SSD.

Any sign of a port for x86 32bit yet?

If you ask me, the whole Ubuntu attitude is anti-server...

It handles a LEMP stack like Fedora and FreeBSD no problem

It's probably a good thing no one asks you then because servers are where Ubuntu has the most users and gets the most money

Yep, the last 3 systems I built all run happily on Ubuntu. With that said, can't wait to upgrade my old bullseye system to trixie once it's dully out.

For me, Debian is the best distribution for both Desktop and servers, but I can’t keep it on my desktop because I also use my PC for gaming and need to keep Mesa updated, which I can only do on Ubuntu with the PPA or on Arch. As for servers, I find the 5-year support period too short. I have many servers to manage, and for them, I’m currently using Rocky Linux, which gives me at least 10 years of support.

I use stable Debian as my workstation at my job, but I wish I could use it everywhere.
