for those wanting to run this Linux distribution within the confines of Microsoft's Windows 11 WSL2 environment.
    Michael WSL 2 isn't a Windows 11 exclusive, it's available from Windows 10 v1903.
To update to WSL 2, you must be running Windows 10...
    • For x64 systems: Version 1903 or later, with Build 18362.1049 or later.
    • For ARM64 systems: Version 2004 or later, with Build 19041 or later.
    or Windows 11.
Step by step instructions to manually install WSL on older versions of Windows, rather than using the wsl install command.

IIRC though, the newer WSL2 versions are limited only to Windows 11.

The latest version, 2.3.26, is available on Windows 10, it's actually distributed from MS Store on Windows 10 starting from 2004.
            Code:
            > wsl -v
            WSL version: 2.3.26.0
            Kernel version: 5.15.167.4-1
            WSLg version: 1.0.65
            MSRDC version: 1.2.5620
            Direct3D version: 1.611.1-81528511
            DXCore version: 10.0.26100.1-240331-1435.ge-release
            Windows version: 10.0.19045.5247

Nice first step! Besides getting Fedora for WSL in the Microsoft Store, it would also be really nice to have Fedora as a VM option within Hyper-V Quick Create instead of just Ubuntu (sets up all the xrdp stuff etc.).

This is nice, I can move away from the Debian installs for my WSL2 instances. I don't have anything against them just more familiarity with fedora based distros and rpm.

This is better than nothing! Wish CachyOS would do the same though… or even full AppX or Store listing.

Because they want more people to try it, but at the same time there are problems with Microsoft's agreements (Which problems? What are they? It'd be very good to know that because there's a lot of FOSS software on their store that might consider pulling out of it if they knew something was wrong with the agreements that they are agreeing to) that prevent them from making it easier for people to try it by placing it on their store.

Regardless, having a tarball available is better than not having one.
