I don't think I've ever seen a Kwave editor before. I'll need to check that out. Audacity has a tendency to start way too long due to the fact that it supports LV2 plugins that I do not need in Audacity.

(Grayson installs Kwave along with a bunch of Qt dependencies...)

Once I install Kwave, I tried Kwave, setup the source and playback, tried to press the R key to record but got the range window open, and that's where using the mouse comes in. The buttons for record and pause/continue are light against light theme and it appears that there are no labels in the buttons which is kind of strange. I could learn new keyboard shortcuts, but then I don't like the workflow anyway.

Oh well. It's back to Audacity. I'll have to deal with the slow starting time. I could uninstall all LV2/VST plugins, but nah... That's a hassle I do not want to deal with after I uninstall Kwave along with its dependencies (sudo pacman -Rs kwave).

Yeah, KWave is new to me, too. Looks somewhat like audacity. Audacity starts fast enough for me, though it depends on CPU and data media (HDD vs. SATA SSD vs. NvME SSD via PCIe); and I also run Gentoo so I might have switched a few things off before compiling.

Good to see improvements rolling in, but I'll still postpone my switch to Qt6/KDE6 a while. Production systems here, I will need to make one free for a test, first.
Also hoping to see performance improvements ot Okular, it's a fair tool, but in some cases it seems to be slower than other pdf readers.
Stop TCPA, stupid software patents and corrupt politicians!

isnt it simpler to just start audacity with plugins disabled (or block file read access to them)

meanwhile ableton and fl studio have options to skip plugin scans on startup for decades

Hmm... Unfortunately, Audacity produced no output in the terminal when I run it from there. I did check the skip loading effects plugins, clicked OK, and then restart Audacity, but no dice. It takes about 30 seconds or more. I'm running Pipewire 1.2.7 and 6.12.0-1-cachyos (Arch Linux).

            Michael, typo in the article:

            > The Kdenlive video editor has added new features like being able to resize multiple items on the timeline at the sane time.

            Should be same, not sane.

" - The KRDC RDP/VNC remote desktop program now works much better on Wayland."

I sincerely hope so. Wife was wondering if recently I'd developed Tourette's Syndrome. :P

Such posts are so weird. "I use Gnome, I installed QT app, it looks awkward." Yeah, welcome to the stupid world of gtk based DEs that give 0 crap to QT integration as if everything one would ever need is a primitive GTK app.
First and foremost, you should've been using KDE Plasma. There you won't find issues regarding look and feel of both QT and GTK apps, because yeah, Plasma Devs care.

Correct. The times are definitely not sane anymore
