Right now I am down to Windows just at work, which I need to have. I have not yet installed WSL on it but plan to at some point. Likely will go with the 2.4.4 (or higher) pre-release if I do for before that series released as latest. From what I have read here and elsewhere, sounds like recent changes beneficial to make easier for distros to package, etc. For my own home usage, booting mostly into Linux (dual-boot setup with macOS) these days. Not sure what I am looking to say, but would be nice to have this on that work Windows box. I do feel like this can be a pathway for others to get Linux exposure that may lead eventually to booting Linux "bare-metal".

Excellent. I was hoping this was coming after the RHEL for WSL announcement. A direct offering from the Microsoft Store (yes that's what it's called now) would great for visibility and so that you could do a command line only install via winget, but this is a nice first step.

Super happy to see this! Although I like Linux, many third-party apps have subpar experience when running on Linux, like Slack, Discord..., or don't have a Linux version at all.
So, for me, working as a web developer, having the Windows GUI + Linux power with WSL makes a great combo! Just like using macOS, but without awful usability. And being a Fedora user on bare metal, having the same distro on WSL will be super nice.

Just put it in the damn Windows Store already so I can simply run wsl.exe --list --online and wsl.exe --install -d <name>

That is the goal for the change proposal.

what about focusing improving the experience for the Fedora users running Fedora instead?

Are there specifics that you'd like to see them focus on?

anything specific actually: I've been using Fedora since core 6 and I'm happy with it.

however I'd prefer that the few resources available were focused on Fedora users rather than Windows users.
