Last time I've tried it the localisation was horrible. Most of Manjaro apps were untranslated. My native language is German and Manjaro claims to be a German company. I don't even want to know what the situation is with other languages. I certainly can't recommend it to friends.

And why only Gnome 46? I thought Arch Linux is cutting edge. Gnome 47 is already in Debian Sid AND Debian Testing to weeks ago.

This is just the new version of their iso, I imagine by now Manjaro has Gnome 47 too after updating for the first time. (then again who needs Manjaro, just what is the point)

I used Manjaro for 3 or 4 years around 2017 to 2021 but it lagged just enough behind Arch that using the AUR became enough of a chore that anything else Manjaro offered wasn't worth it so I went back to Arch. Very soon after that I discovered CachyOS and I've been using it for the past few years and it's mostly a great distribution.

The newer a Linux user a person is I'd recommend Manjaro over CachyOS or any other Arch-based distribution.

Maybe this is just me stereotyping when I see a guy wearing a cap and chain like that, but doesn't Manjaro's philm look like a drug dealer in his profile picture?

I always suggest for a new linux user ( exWindows user) to meet linux world via Manjaro ( with KDE plasma ) instead of any other distro or DE.

                Why?

Everything I know and experienced up until now has me generally thinking that's not the best idea, but I'm curious.

You are right, it's wrong on many levels. Somehow Manjaro still has its fans though.

Manjaro Gnome used to have a really nice and distinct visual identity with the gorgeous Matcha-sea theme.
Now, it's just another ugly libadwaita clone, very sadly.

Of course, with a bit of tweaking in ~/.config/gtk-4.0/, you can make it look a little more decent, but still libadwaita really killed Gnome to the point even Manjaro has no visual advantage.
That's how bad libadwaita was for Linux.
