470xx users won't enjoy eglstreams wayland support unless they like DE and app crashes
It won't benefit fedora users as xwayland doesn't enable eglstreams support.

with their latest modern driver releases, but the end-of-life NVIDIA 470 legacy driver series does continue to depend upon EGLDevice/EGLStreams for Wayland support. Thus the small fix to Mutter was upstreamed for restoring that EGLDevice support to satisfy those running the legacy NVIDIA 470 Linux driver and wanting to enjoy Wayland.

That seem to be at least GeForce 600 Series users. Those should already have proper open source support, shouldn't they?

amazing to waste effort on something even nvidia abandoned. WOuld it not be better that hardware that is no longer supported by the vendor either uses open drivers or x session?

There needs to be a big on screen warning dialog with big red letters stating that the user experience will be compromised.

It's funny the way they worded it as if a user of this could possibly enjoy the experience. So now people are thinking ok, I'll enjoy this only to find out through a horrible experience that it is actually broken...

Isn't that the definition of masochist? Someone who promises a great time but then treats you like shit the entire time? Yeah, this is masochistic as fuck.

I look forward to the new Ubuntu 24.10 and GNOME 47 which depend less on X.Org.
I like that the new GNOME have accent colors and that Canonical have added a Ubuntu-colored accent color.

I would like Canonical to stop patching GNOME Console with that purple background.

I would like Canonical's desktop team to maybe add support for more mouse cursors and white mouse pointers so we have an alternative to GNOME's dark mouse cursors.

I would like Canonical to get their partners to put their software in the Snap store. I would like to see Apache, Lighttpd, Nginx, MySQL, MariaDB, PostgreSQL, Bun and Deno packaged in the Snap store.

I was thinking the same thing. Is GNOME going to maintain this indefinitely for people that are stuck in the woods with old/legacy Nvidia support? That's very admirable. I'd be telling people to switch to Nouveau (although that doesn't have re-clocking support for old hardware so I can see why people would be hesitant to make the switch).

at this point, getting triple buffering support is a joke
