"i686" usually means "SSE2" and geode does not support programs compiled with SSE2.

I'm not sure why you think that. i686 is the Pentium Pro architecture, which just included MMX, not even the original SSE. And isn't the whole point of this news that Fedora used to install a 586 kernel everywhere before, and it will now be changed to a 686 one?

If the 32-bit packages are 'i686', does that mean that Fedora won't work on Geode chips? Isn't Fedora the base for the OLPC's Linux? What about others running Fedora on Geode chips?
