Phoronix: Fedora 12 Alpha To Bring Many Improvements

The first development release for Fedora 12 (codenamed Constantine), Alpha 1, was supposed to be released this week. However, Red Hat has pushed back its release to next week Tuesday. While there is this seven-day delay, an Alpha 1 RC1 ISO spin is available and we decided to provide a very early and brief look at the Fedora 12 release.

meh, redhat can make whatever changes they want but it will never be as powerful as slackware or gentoo.

Bingo. Your point about an ugly theme is in amongst itself pointless because anyone with half a life is going to personalize.

Should be sufficient to just say "Fedora will keep upgrading every damn component to bleeding edge ones", really.

I'm not sure why you think that. i686 is the Pentium Pro architecture, which just included MMX, not even the original SSE. And isn't the whole point of this news that Fedora used to install a 586 kernel everywhere before, and it will now be changed to a 686 one?
