IBM have CentOS Stream. Optimisation of resources. Why have a rapidly moving distro to feed into a rolling release to feed into the stable distro?

As for Linux dying if RedHat dies... Linux existed before RedHat, and it will continue to exist after. Oddly enough, IBM don't own the whole world... although I'm sure they'd be happy to.

Sorry, but that's not very believable, no matter how many times people have said it in the Phoronix comments section.

Firing more people means systemd is doing it's job well!

If you look at the Ben Cotton's social profile (https://twitter.com/funnelfiasco), he is the prime example of wokeness. His twitter headline is: "Ben Cotton (he/him) says #BlackLivesMatter". So this is the case of IBM/RH of actually getting rid of woke people.

            good then!

edit: I took a look at that profile. Is it actually real or a parody as it says?
it's really hard to distinguish between real woke persons and parody account 🤡

The real question should be - why would he take a pay-cut?

Since IBM purchased the Raleigh open-source software company Red Hat for $34 billion in 2019, Red Hat’s revenue has jumped at least 15% every fiscal quarter. The final three month-period of 2022 was no exception, IBM announced Wednesday, as Red Hat reported another 15% revenue increase from October through December. And while not all the news out of IBM’s latest earnings call was positive — the company said it will cut 3,900 jobs and its stock sank following lower-than-predicted cash flow figures — Big Blue executives once again trumpeted the performance of Red Hat’s software and consulting operations.

He is also behind Centos Stream. No idea if IBM told them to drop Centos and he came up with that idea instead, or he is the one suggesting that change in the first place.
But i am not feeling bad about this anymore...

you mean these three sentences that i quoted?

I wonder if they fired him with or without asking to take pay-cut. If I was making good money and loved my job, I wouldn't mind taking a pay-cut. But if they don't ask me, they'll never know.
i read it. the question still stands.

my point was on top of your comment. while it is great that you would be willing to work on your job with a paycut, in this case it makes no sense since the revenue (and probably profits) are going up all the time.

Managers are ordered to cut staff, and sometimes after they cut staff they are also cut. Regarding "wokeness", that's not the blame for layoffs, and the implication that "wokeness" (which means btw, being alert to and concerned about social injustice and discrimination) is just bizarre. It's like the trope that antifa is somehow a bad thing. Since when is being anti-fascist bad?

Fedora will continue to be just fine. Yes, there are many Redhat employees in the project, but there are also scores of volunteers who contribute. Fedora isn't in danger of going away anytime soon, especially because of a Redhat layoff.
Original wokeness was a good thing when it simply meant I'm aware of the atrocities of the past and strive to make the world a better place for everyone. There's nothing wrong with that. When that perverted into Affirmative Action 2.0, I had to dip out. Just like the human body, you can only be so woke for so long before you go crazy from lack of sleep. Sometimes you gotta shut off the wokeness for a week and play Red Dead Redemption 2.

Antifa is bad because they're fascists. Just because their name is one thing doesn't make it so. Like, North Korea isn't a democracy and Germany wasn't socialist. Look past their branding. They're fascists because you have to do and say what they do. If you have a varying position you're instantly a bigot and vilified. I live in Arkansas surrounded by Christian Fascists so it's very easy for me to see that I'm trading one set of fascists for another set of fascists.

Speaking of branding....instead of pronouncing Anti as Ant-eye, they pronounce it as Ant-ee because Ant-eye is negative and they want to be seen as a peace loving for all group while their name starts with Against. Like all groups like that, who will they be against next? Who will the next "Fa's" be?

I'm a peace loving hippie and I'm afraid to speak my mind around Antifa people because of how hateful they are if you don't speak, act, and live in full wokeness.

Watch the South Park episode "The Death Camp of Tolerance." The people in the death camp forcing them to make rainbows are Antifa.
