      But i don't see any Debian GNU/Haiku, Debian GNU/Toaru nor Debian GNU/Helen.
Operating systems like hurd are still important for academic and educational purposes. For example, it's a lot more difficult to try out new/radically different ideas using something as widely used and crucially important as Linux. Furthermore, kernel projects like hurd have much lower barriers to entry and by being far less feature complete provide significantly more learning opportunities for aspiring kernel developers.

Yeah, except they were also saying this about Hurd back then too. The GNU runtime was originally designed as a userland for Hurd. This is why Stallman throws a fit if you dont call it "GNU/linux" lol

Well, technically the Linux OS is actually not Linux but GNU. Or was until Systemd decided to replace pretty much everything GNU that wasn't bash. So in all fairness it should be called Systemd/Linux now.

If only all software had this kind of consistency and lifespan

For a second I thought Michael had written “an experimental Trump-based disk driver”

The question is if this power is needed, compared to Linux. But still, very interesting very ambitious project that also shows how flawed the micro kernel concept is if you try to realize it in the real world. It likely is where it is now due to its adoption of the flawed mach microkernel instead of baking something good in house.
Everyone seems to forget that every Intel system is running a full install of minix on the Intel Management Engine, making minix the most installed OS in history. Of course, Intel would probably prefer you to forget anyway.

It would be good to repeat the benchmark against Linux. If I'm not mistaken, the last time was in 2015.
