Phoronix: Oracle Linux Looking To Attract CentOS Users Looking For Alternatives

In light of this week's major bombshell that CentOS 8 is being EOL'ed next year and CentOS focusing on "CentOS Stream" as the upstream to RHEL, Oracle is hoping at least some of those frustrated CentOS users will transition to Oracle Linux...

Funny thats exactly what i did, although i prefer community distros to corporate ones, unfortunately in this instance oracle is the only logical alternative.

This is the logical thing to do:
          • Switching from CentOS is extremely easy
          • compatibility with RHEL
          • UEK has a lot of goodies
          • It was already superior to CentOS
I've been doing it for a long time.

This is a very good thing, not the least of which is that the Oracle linux has moved into the 5.9 kernel. Critically important to check out the power of the Radeon GPUs. One of the main problems, as far as using Oracle Linux for desktops is concerned, is that many of the packages have not been upgraded.
