  • Centos 7 with Centos LTS 5.4 kernel

What is the general thoughts about the new Centos 7 LTS kernels? The kernel started with kernel-5.4.28 and is now on kernel-5.4.42.

The repo has been added when I upgraded my Centos 7.8 server and after enabling the repo it updated from kernel-3.10.0-1127.8.2. I asked the Centos forum but only got a single reply from someone who did not seem to know about the new kernel but who also said it is not production ready.

Surely there should be a 1001 good reasons to start using this rather than the kernels based on 3.10.0.

I wonder how much faster the 5.4 kernel will be when compared to the 3.10.0 kernel.
