Phoronix: Arch-based Manjaro Linux Will Pursue Full-Time Maintainers, Ramping Up Efforts

The past eight years Arch-based Manjaro Linux has largely been a hobby effort for this easy to use Linux distribution but moving forward there is a commercial entity being setup and ultimately they will be looking to employ fill-time developers/maintainers...

The Manjaro team announced today they have established Manjaro GmbH & Co KG as the corporate entity behind the distri bution. This will be the entity receiving donations now as well as sorting out the employment of maintainers and other efforts from sponsorship of Manjaro events to hardware and hosting costs. Manjaro still intends to be an independent, community-driven project.
No, it won't. Their text was pretty clear on that, it's being handled by others. They've also tweeted to ask you to correct your story: https://twitter.com/ManjaroLinux/sta...96730759241729

Does this mean they're going to help with the upstream projects they use for a change?

              (Probably not)

Interesting that they chose a for-profit corporate legal entity.

i don't know what their reasons have been, but as they are mention partnerships/sponsoring, i could imagine that this is the reason - getting money from a company (legally) is really complicated if you are an e.V. in Germany...

Yeah I was thinking the same.
How much of their work do they upstream?
