Really, REALLY? You say that Lawyers are trustworthy people that never lie to reach a goal? their Job description is that they have to lie. To quote a Tool song "Lawyers, liars, mirror what's the difference".

And they publicized their legal opinion so canonical as the marketing apple company they are inside the Linux Sphere had a interest that they say that even if it's not true because if they would been able to push the kernel devs to include ZFS into the kernel they would reached their goal, either they speculate that nobody will ever sue even it would be possible, or they would then sue the kernel devs and not canonical because they included it.

So you have a company that is interested in such a finding on one hand (Ubuntu) and professional Liars, Liewyers on the other hand. And there is even more incentive to lie from the company let's assume for a second even it's absurd that Canonical is this *cough* good linux company that only wants to bring linux forward for the world the lawyers still would have a incentive to lie.

Because if now somebody would sue Canonical because they used that technology because of their false statements, they would then of course say we stand by our conclusion we will defend you. But they will not take this case for free if they loose they will still bill canonical

Both scenarias could be right but you should consider the possibility that I am right and not conclude that because this lawyers say so it must be true.

You don't think that lawyers ever prevent companies from doing things? Companies have red tape everywhere because of what their lawyers tell them.

Actually I didn't say that. But even if they were fresh out of college, they would still have years of law study behind them.

Yes, but I'm also considering the fact that Canonical has included ZFS in their product for years now.
