      I will try it again. That prior version (18) of BSD had a hard time with the Realtek NIC's. The appliance I test UTM's with has them built in.

            and to the contrary of Pfsense they still plan to support hardware without AES-NI instructions for the forseeable future (while Pfsense will drop them with next major release, aka 2.5.x)
