This is Canonical/Ubuntu main philosophy: being dumber than anyone can imagine.

So the examples that Mark makes of "great applications" are both proprietary. Can he name even two great libre applications that use electron?

I really don't understand Canonical's drive to do things so differently. Ubuntu's popularity was due to it being compatible, competent, and easy. When they keep changing things up like this, you break all of that. Linux has enough variety as-is, and package management is the LAST thing we need yet-another-standard for.
