glx-alternatives - add transitional glx-alternative-fglrx to allow upgrades
fglrx-driver - transitional packages to allow upgrades from older systems

    Finally some empty packages

    fglrx-driver (2:0+steamos1) brewmaster; urgency=medium

    * Convert into a set of transitional packages. The only supported driver
for AMD hardware is now Mesa.

    - fglrx-driver: transition to a complete Mesa GL stack
    - libfglrx-amdxvba1: transition to mesa-va-drivers
    - libgl1-fglrx-glx: transition to a complete Mesa GL stack
    - libgl1-fglrx-glx-i386: continue to depend on libgl1-fglrx-glx
    - amd-opencl-icd: transition to mesa-opencl-icd
    - amd-libopencl1: transition to ocl-icd-libopencl1
    - amd-opencl-dev: transition to ocl-icd-opencl-dev
    - amd-clinfo: remove (harmless, and not installed in practice)
    - amd-clinfo, fglrx-atieventsd, fglrx-control: remove (harmless, and
    not installed in practice)
    - fglrx-source, fglrx-modules-dkms: remove (harmless to remain installed)
    - libfglrx: remove (harmless to remain installed)

FGLRX should still work fine under that jessie X, even with still not released kernel 4.15 ... yet they didn't patched anything anyway for new kernels, so no one used it there anyway.

Considering Jessie is now "oldstable", SteamOS really needs to upgrade...

In May/June, Jessie will became even oldoldstable or LTS... Debian LTS support also allows users to skip one release.

So, maybe SteamOS wanna skip model like that - to switch base in 4 years, while just focusing on rolling longterm kernels, GPU drivers, usual security and small fixes here and there

That model should largely work anyway for games, there is no much need to roll everything and possibly to break something so often

Kudos to Valve for supporting Mesa but there is a need for OpenGL compat profiles on Mesa , because some games need it and if this is a game oriented distro ; there should be support for every game available on Linux.

Also i think Valve needs to get in touch with some publishers have fairly old games with no Linux support on the horizon ( Dx9 games mostly ) to wrap them with Wine. Like Topware games did. No one expects a native Witcher 1 release for example cause it will be non profitable and Wine wrapper would perform very good.

Much more hassle free option for old games , of course i prefer native all the time but sometimes expecting a native release is pointless.

Seems a bit useless on a gaming distro but I guess it's better left off for users to disable if they know what they're doing.
