Normal games don't need to rely on X. If they use some libraries for handling input that can work with both X and Wayland (like SDL and the like), they are abstracted well already. And for graphics they use Vulkan / OpenGL.

    Née Gräßlin?
Née is female. Should be Né.
And that means it changed surname after marriage?!?

Sounds like this approach can solve some of the instability issues. Allowing Kwin to reload e.g. XWayland will hopefully reduce system freezes and make Plasma on Wayland as stable as on X11.

Great! Now let's get rid of the XWayland and X11 dependencies in both KDE and GNOME apps. Then we'll have slim, mean, fast apps running directly on Wayland without being bogged down by the slow Xwayland middle man.
