    I still use plain ol' vim but I really appreciate the swift kick in vim developers' butt that is the neovim fork.

      Indeed. I'm a long time (g)vim user. Use for everything ranging from viewing log files to writing code.
      Never the less, the development of vim really stagnated until neovim came and kicked them in the behind.
