Now that Ubuntu is moving from Qt to GTK it seem like a waste of time anyway.
Fortunately your troll opinion makes no difference.

Tell that to GNU, who also want CLAs. I'm sure they have something to say about copyleft.

FSF insist on CLAs for all their code to be able to have the best possible hand if it becomes necessary to defend the GPL license in court. Copyright cases are much simpler if you are the sole copyright holder.

Too bad all of those OSS projects and corporate users of Qt don't seem to give a toss about your warped viewpoint.

Qt would never accept free software. They fight aganst Copyleft.
Actually one of the main reason the CLA is needed is due to the agreement with the Free-Qt Foundation, that says that if Qt is ever closed sourced, or stops being maintained the last released versions becomes available under a BSD license. It wouldn't be possible to do that re-licensing without the CLA.

Qt's innovation outpaces GTK+'s as far as it does in large part because the CLA allows them to offer a closed-source licensing option.

Where did you think they get the money to hire so many people to work on it full-time?
