Well a lot can change in two years, granted, but it looks like your point is likely lacking... http://www.cio.com/article/2881172/s...vironment.html

guys please stop feeding the trolls. We really don't need to get triggered.

Everytime you feed a troll, you generate legitimate comment and thread history that can be used to legitimize accounts that can then be turned over as spam accounts in the future, so it just hurts everybody. This is a significant issue in most popular internet forums these days.

In particular there is one user in this thread who has been quite active over the last week or so, without any real content contribution, just attacking and praising specific software projects.

The Baloo updates sound useful (
        • Added description for commands (balooctl)
        • Search also in symlinked directories (bug 333678)

). I have symlinks to Pictures, Music, and some documents on NTFS partitions to make dual-booting Linux and Windows smoother. Nepomuk and now Baloo have always been confusing to configure for this. The System Settings > Desktop Search panel doesn't give detailed control (understandable), and the config file format is under-specified (e.g. exclude folders[$e]=$HOME/FolderA/,$HOME/FolderB/ ... what is $e ?).

It's fantastic to be able to search in Dolphin for particular files with some content. Sometimes even the best grep (rg!) isn't enough.

It is a modifier/hint to indicate that the value of they config key should be treated as containing environment variable, which need to be expanded when reading.

In your example that is $HOME, allowing they config value to be written in a way that applies across user accounts.

          Cheers,

kio/kioslave/gio/gvfs should all merge to release something cross-platform and is not desktop bound. Would be useful for lots of things even for PHP for example.
