I got a bunch of bugs in Plasma 5 (KDE 5) here, some might be qt related (also according to others). I hope they'll rather fix bugs that hamper daily operation - rather than adding something like a DX 12 backend for rendering or something like that. (Wasn't DX 12 limited to W10 only anyway?)
Stop TCPA, stupid software patents and corrupt politicians!

Any serious bugs? Cause I'm running Kubuntu right now and things look surprisingly good, even if it's Plasma 5.8.4 running over Qt 5.6.1.

Direct 3D 12 backend? What about Vulkan backend?

Relax, Qt is not a game engine. OpenGL offers all the performance you need to run a UI.

            Qt WebEngine upgrades
Perhaps Emdek can comment on whether this is finally useful for Otter? I hope so if the older backend is being dropped by Qt.

I really hope Ubuntu upgrades their Qt version so Kubuntu can get a newer version.

This update doesn't change much, the biggest changes in QtWebEngine APIs are spell checking support (requiring Chrome specific format) and support for proper printing.

We are going to stick to revived QtWebKit as default backend anyway:

Then you clearly don't know how Ubuntu works. Between releases they may update an application, but never a toolkit/framework. There's Neon that has the latest KDE and Qt, but it sticks to Ubuntu LTS releases.

Thanks. I wasn't certain if QtWebKit had been permanently revived as I know Qt dropped it at one point in favour of QtWebEngine, which was totally unsuitable for your needs. I'm glad to read it, and Otter, are still being maintained.
