Why can't they just sync up so they release Plasma and frameworks at the same time, even better align with QT. Then there would be less issues with "This is broke but if you upgrade to (pick one of the three) latest version that will fix it."

Yeah, they made it easier for themselves but more messy for the users (mainly because different components are released at different times in a semi dependent way from some other component version, which to us users is a mess).

I still didn't learn what "frameworks" and other codewords stand for in KDE5 and they expect users to track, mix and match the versions of different components like a jigsaw puzzle? - not gonna happen.

You can see KDE frameworks as libs above Qt, but below the apps that use them.
They're the base of the KDE apps.

As for the jigsaw as you called it, that's not up to users but distributions anyway.

              There's also no KDE 5.

Frameworks = KDE's additional libraries that aren't part of Qt5

Applications = Programs developed under the KDE banner

Plasma = The Desktop and its associated framework

Kinda crashy, but mostly works. Not all features are ported though. It seems like it might be ready for normal use after another 2 release cycles.

I didin't imagine how much difficult developers have to implement waykand as compositor.
