demerge is the first antonym that comes to my mind as language's primary goal is to communicate ideas as quickly as efficiently as possible.

coupling sounds like a unpermanant docking and feels like it should be used to describe relationships or space dock procedures. bud off and those other options sound terrible on my tounge.

I think in english news media the term "demerger" is a very common term, if it sounds quaint perhaps the area you live doesn't have the same cultural flavoring and common usage to describe the parting of two entities.

So 8 years after Nokia bought Trolltech, we have come full circle.

It would be funny if the Qt company got the rights to the Trolltech brand and could to business under that name again.

Yes, a lot of companies use Qt and so they are not interested in being Digia shareholders, it's more useful for them being Qt shareholders.

It's indeed a valid term, although in this case it sounds more like a spin-off.

Luckily this site and forum are mainly frequented by stock financial people.

I doubt most companies using Qt want to be Qt shareholders either

Companies prefer having a voice in decisions that are important for them, the bigger they are, the more they are interested.

Do you know any concrete examples or is that just what you think makes sense?
