I actually used the name of the specific program that gave me headaches in the first place, you went for the meme instead, yeah it's Phoronix, you'll get trolls and rants too, along side normal users.

Excuse me for not praising KDE or whatever your agenda is for the day.

I agree, names of technologies are only relevant to the developers using said technologies, not to the people using their applications.

The thing is: when you go under the hood to do something you are no longer merely using something, you are adjusting the system to your needs.
You know have your own setup, which the original software might not support as well as what it was designed for.
Of course you can still rant about how the software does not support your modified situation, but you are actually ranting about your own modification.

It is not helpful at all for other users who use the software as intended and especially not if the rant complains about a software not even related.

Ignorance as a priviledge, as you put it, is only available to users who use the system as-is, not to those who use it in a modified way.
Users in the first group do either use or not use a software, they do not try to make the software do something differently.

The other poster is very incoherent so it is hard to even guess what they were doing, but from the scraps of information it seems they attempted to stop a services needed by some software they were running, instead of just not running that software.

It is one thing to cripple your own system and another that the system tries to detect a fault and restore itself.
Because self repairing is a usability virtue in my book, it allows the ignorance priviledge you mentioned.

      Cheers,

I was not modifying anything. Akonadi used 100% CPU by default, that application would not turn off using the provided means ( http://www.databook.bz/?page_id=3728 )

I was "using the software wrong", really? Are you from Apple or something?

It was not needed, I was not using KDE PIM, indexing, search. Akonadi used 100% CPU by default, that application would not turn off using the provided means ( http://www.databook.bz/?page_id=3728 )

Why bother imagining stuff I did not say?

I was using KDE4, but that application would not turn off using the provided means ( these did not help: http://www.databook.bz/?page_id=3728 )
How could I not run that software if I CAN'T TURN IT OFF in the first place?
Or should I dump KDE4 just because akonadi&co have a bug and missbehave?
Or what's your point besides dishing my related experience?

Also, do talk directly to me and not image a monologue over my head, not funny.

The change described on that page does not turn it off, if configures the system for use with an externally started MySQL instance.
By which means did you then start the instance?

I wasn't aware that the forum software used by Phoronix would allow two users to have the same user name.

The other "Licaon" user wrote in http://www.phoronix.com/forums/forum...334#post829334 about modifying the system.

It is really confusing that you and this user are not the same, that user was also the one getting all worked up about indexing without having a problem with indexing, or having a problem with indexing and randomly crippling other programs.

Must also be very confusing for yourself, since the forum makes it look related to what you write.

Sorry, I wasn't aware that there are two users with user names so similar that they look like the same.

Stable enough for me (using Kubuntu 15.10). Though you'll need to change some settings before you can say so. For example I needed to disable baloo service (otherwise it hits 100% CPU slowing system heavily), and bluetooth service (no loss as this computer does not have any bluetooth capability). With those tweaks and cleanly installed system it works quite nicely. Though I do not use for example Kmail and so on...
